I've just learned that I'm a 2007 Aaron Copland Award winner!
During Winter/Spring 2007, I held a John Simon Guggenheim
Memorial Fellowship, for which I wrote new chamber works for
counter)induction (New York City)and the California E.A.R. Unit
(Los Angeles), as well as a wind ensemble work for the University of
Michigan Wind Ensemble (Ann Arbor).
I was a guest composer at Williams College for three days
visiting classes, working with students, and rehearsing for the
premiere of AroundAbout, my new piano trio, commissioned
by the Williams Chamber Players.
I was a guest composer at Westchester University visiting
classes and working with students.
In The Purest Air, Sapphirine, for electric guitar soloist and
chamber ensemble, was presented by Mark Dancigers, guitar soloist,
and The NOW Ensemble at the Wave Hill Arts Center in the Bronx.
From The Faraway Nearby, for piano trio, was presented
at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC by The
Contemporary Music Forum with Lina Bahn, violinist, Ilya
Finkelshteyn, violoncellist, and Lura Johnson, pianist.
In The Purest Air, Sapphirine, for electric guitar soloist and
chamber ensemble, was premiered by Mark Dancigers, guitar
soloist, and The NOW Ensemble at the Beinecke Rare Book and
Manuscript Library, Yale University, in conjunction with Yale
College New Music.
